Our dual purpose remote regulators are designed to provide temperature regulated air to a remote site or as a completely standalone, self contained cryogenic chamber or in conjunction with an SE Series environmental chamber and/or humidity chamber.
Portable air conditioner
In situations where the size or location of the product to be tested prohibits it from being placed in a traditional climate chamber, Thermotron's portable temperature conditioners provide a solution. The full range of conditioned air is delivered through insulated ducts working in a closed loop configuration to provide conditioned air to the remote host enclosure.
Portable conditioning can use liquid nitrogen (LN2), carbon dioxide, or mechanical refrigeration as the cooling source. Available with various fan sizes and air velocity capabilities, portable air conditioners are able to fulfill and various testing requirements.
SE Series Environmental Chamber Remote Blower Air Conditioning Package:
This permanent solution features a blower that mounts to the top of the SE Series environmental chamber and has two ports for connection on the side walls of the chamber. The installed supply blowers move air from the chamber workspace where it is connected through insulated supply and return ducts to ports in the side walls. The supply conduit leads to the distal housing where the product is located. Return piping runs from the remote main housing back to the second test chamber, providing closed loop regulation. Thermotron's exclusive product temperature control software monitors the product under test.
Remote Blower Air Conditioner Car Assembly:
The Remote Blower Air Conditioning Cart Assembly works similarly to existing Thermotron SE Series chambers with the patented Universal Port option. The blower cart assembly is a self-contained device on casters that connects with a universal port. Once connected to the SE Chamber via the Universal Port, the Remote Blower Air Conditioning Cart Assembly uses its blower to move the cooled air from the test chamber through the insulated tubing to the Remote Host Enclosure containing the product under test, which is monitored and controlled with the product temperature control software. When not in use, the remote blower conditioning cart assembly can be rolled away and stored. Use Case #1
A multi-national manufacturer of wheels, brake pads and brake systems for commercial aircraft utilized a remote blower conditioning car assembly to more efficiently test their products while mounting the aircraft wheel on a dynamometer. This new testing process will eliminate the logistical difficulties of sequentially subjecting the brake assembly to -54°C, removing it from the chamber, assembling it to the aircraft wheel, hoisting it onto the dynamometer, and then finally simulating a landing.
Use Case #2
Automakers need to test Hall effect speed sensors for powertrain control. The tests were carried out using a test bench capable of spinning at up to 6000 rpm. The large size of the test rig prevents it from being placed in an upright environmental chamber. The customer built a clamshell remote host enclosure on top of the test bench and thermally looped this space using a remote blower air conditioning cart assembly that hooked into the SE Series chamber via a universal port.
